My name is Divine and I am an emotional, intelligent, innovative, passionate and most of all, authentic woman. To be totally honest, I've never fit in a box so I stopped trying a long time ago!
I created Divine Ascension Yoga & Wellness for everyone who has been told "it's not that deep" before. For the sensitive souls who haven't yet had their beauty reflected back to them. I combine over a decade of experience in practicing and teaching yoga, with the Tarot, Astrology and Jungian psychology as tools of self-discovery.
My highest intention is a community of care where we embrace our authentic, unapologetic selves. If this resonates with you, welcome to your safe haven to finally be enough, exactly as you are. 🤍
I remember my first day taking a yoga class. I was a high school geometry teacher, and my school hosted a wellness day where we could try out different classes. I was always curious about yoga, as it looked to be pretty calm and peaceful, but when I tell you that was one of the most challenging classes, my goodness!?!
Now me being the Leo sun that I am, I love a challenge so I was hooked from then on. I've been developing and sharing my practice over the last decade, training formally with the Yoga District 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program in Washington, D.C.
I've hosted Vinyasa, Yin and pre-natal classes for individuals and groups, including Saga Education, Bronx Healthy Start and Villa Community Hub. Yoga has truly changed my life and it keeps me grounded when I'm not certain about anything else. I am so gratfeul for the opportunity to share my practice with you!
I always knew a bit about sun sign in astrology growing up, most people do. But as I began to dive deeper, I started to notice how God loves patterns in nature, and that is no different for us as humans! I must admit, growing up with a Christian background meant accepting this knowledge didn't come easy. I felt deep conflict with what I'd been taught to fear as "evil" or as an attempt to bypass the Omnipotent God. (This is after I overcame my ego screaming "what will people think of me?!" I still struggle with this sometimes...)
I do not try or claim to predict the future, as humans have free will, and I don't believe the planets "control us". However, I do believe that the God of my understanding wants us to use the wisdom available to us to learn the lessons we're meant to receive in this life. Astrology is a wonderful tool to understand yourself and others more, so that you'd develop more compassion and acceptance for the human condition. We all have innate strengths and flaws, and we should endeavor to "know thyself" and by this knowing, become closer to the Divine within us.
As for the Tarot, I approach it from the Jungian psychological perspective. I believe it is a tool to examine the archetypes and circumstances in the individual and collective subconcious. My first question for my intuition is always "what do I need to be aware of right now?". And with an open mind and heart, this tool has helped my grow and confront my shadow in such a meaningful way. I am so grateful for these tools and most importantly, to live in MY truth.
